Like many bands, the story of Big Moon Rocket begins in a garage. But, what began as a couple of regular guys jamming, over pizza and beer, has become one of Tampa Bay’s most exciting bands. And, while some things have changed since their humble beginnings, Big Moon Rocket has never strayed from it’s original course - to make great music and have a lot of fun.
The bands ever-growing list of accomplishments now includes: Two independent EP releases, worldwide play (including several number-one singles) on multiple online radio stations, a professionally produced music video, dozens of live shows at area venues, and battle of the bands winners, to name a few.
Big Moon Rocket’s fresh take on pop-rock could be described as Maroon 5 meets Train, with some unique, beachy undertones. Their four man roster includes Tony Montanez on vocals and guitar, Don Burns on lead guitar, Jamie Cunningham on Bass, and Wade Penrod on drums. Each member draws on their own influences and musical tastes to shape the band’s sound. The results are infectious hooks, tasty guitar riffs and warm rhythms that will have you singing along at your first listen.
